From the classrooms of Rockhampton State High School to performing on international stages, 2023 graduate Caitlyn Jamieson is making her mark on the global music scene, proving that passion and a strong foundation can take you anywhere.

Just three years after graduating from Rockhampton State High School, Caitlyn has transformed a lifelong passion for music into a thriving career as a professional fiddle player, performing alongside established country music artists and touring internationally.

Following graduation in 2023, Caitlyn relocated to Brisbane to pursue a Diploma of Music at JMC Academy. While studying and working part-time, she dedicated her weekends to performing at venues across Brisbane and regional Queensland, steadily building her experience and reputation within the music industry.

Her hard work and determination has since paid off, with the talented 20-year old recently making the exciting transition to a full-time career in music.

Now performing alongside artists including fellow Central Queensland musician Mack Geiger, Briana Dinsdale and Tate Cole, Caitlyn has already achieved milestones many aspiring musicians can only dream of.

Taking Australian Talent to the International Stage

One of the highlights of Caitlyn's career so far has been touring the United States with Mack Geiger in June 2026.

The two-week tour included performances at the renowned CMA Fest in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as shows in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and across Texas.

Building on this success, Caitlyn is preparing to embark on another international adventure, joining Mack Geiger for a seven-week tour across the United States and Canada from November through to December.

With a number of performances already sold out, the upcoming tour represents another exciting chapter in her rapidly growing career.

Looking further ahead, plans are already underway for additional international performances across North America and Europe in 2027.

Among the most anticipated opportunities is the chance to perform as a supporting act for legendary country music duo Brooks & Dunn in March 2027.

"They are musical heroes of mine, and it is an absolute dream come true," Caitlyn shared.

Alongside her touring commitments, Caitlyn is also working on recording a solo album, marking another significant step in her journey as an independent musician.

A Strong Musical Foundation at Rocky High

While her career is now taking her around the world, Caitlyn remains grateful for the opportunities, encouragement and support she received throughout her secondary education at Rockhampton State High School.

During her time at Rocky High, she was actively involved in the school's vibrant music program, participating in the CQ All Schools Battle of the Bands, the RSHS String Ensemble, eisteddfods and school productions.

These experiences provided valuable opportunities to develop her musical abilities, gain performance experience and build the confidence needed to pursue a career in the competitive music industry.

Caitlyn particularly acknowledged the influence of several dedicated staff members including (former) Mr Bean, Mrs Stubbs, Teigh Nichols, Mrs Holbeck and Mrs Parker, who encouraged her to pursue her passion for music.

"Rocky High played a large part in my musical development, and I truly don't think I would be where I am today with the support I had in my teenage years!"

Her journey highlights the lasting impact that quality arts education, extracurricular opportunities and supportive teachers can have on students as they discover their talents and pursue their ambitions.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Despite achieving international success at just 20 years of age, Caitlyn remains grounded in the determination and hard work that helped turn her aspirations into reality.

When asked what advice they would offer current Rocky High students considering a career in music, her message was one of encouragement and perseverance.

"Give it a red hot go while you're young. You'll never know what you can achieve if you don't try."

"I never thought I'd be touring worldwide at 20 years old, but I put in the work and it's paid off. All you can do is chase the dream, and hope that it works out."

Celebrating our Alumni

Rockhampton State High School is incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our former students and the diverse pathways they pursue beyond the school gates.

Caitlyn's journey is a wonderful example of how opportunities and experiences gained during high school can provide a foundation for future success.

From performing in school ensembles and local competitions to share the stage with internationally recognised artists, her story serves as an inspiration to current students to embrace opportunities, pursue their passions and believe in what they can achieve.

We congratulate Caitlyn on her outstanding achievements and look forward to following the next chapter of her musical journey.

Once a Rocky High student, always part of the Rocky High community.
