Sport is an important part of life at Rockhampton State High School, with students encouraged to participate, challenge themselves and represent the school with pride. We offer a broad range of sporting opportunities that cater for students of all abilities, from those looking to enjoy recreational sport through to aspiring elite athletes.
Our students have a strong tradition of success, regularly achieving representative honours at school, district, regional, state, national and international levels. This success is supported by dedicated coaches and staff who provide high-quality training, guidance and encouragement throughout the year, while fostering teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship.
Our modern Sports Centre provides outstanding facilities for training, competitions and school sporting events, creating opportunities for students to develop their skills in a professional environment.
School Sport
Rockhampton State High School competes in a wide range of interschool sports and competitions throughout the year. Students can participate in weekly competitions, gala days, athletics, cross country and a variety of seasonal sports.
Representative Sport
Students at Rockhampton State High School are encouraged to trial for Rockhampton and District Secondary Schools (RDSS) representative teams across a wide range of sports. These pathways can lead to Capricornia, Queensland and Australian representative opportunities.
Trial information, including dates, venues and eligibility requirements, are communicated throughout the year via the Sports Office, school notices and student communications. Students who wish to nominate for representative trials must submit their required documentation prior to the advertised closing date. Parents and carers will be advised of the current nomination and consent processes each year.
