FEET First - Further Education, Employment and Training
Established in 2021, the FEET First Program supports students in planning and preparing for life beyond the school. The program provides guidance, opportunities and practical support to help students transition successfully into further education, training and/or employment.
Based in our Senior Learning Centre, FEET First staff assist students with:
- Career planning and pathway advice
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) opportunities
- School-based apprenticeships and traineeships
- Work experience placements
- Resume writing, job applications and interview preparation
- Employment and training opportunities
- Career and industry events
Work Experience
Students have opportunities to participate in work experience placements that provide valuable insight into potential career pathways, workplace expectations and industry environments. These experiences help students develop confidence, employability skills and informed career goals.
School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Students in Years 10 to 12 may have the opportunity to commence a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship while completing their secondary education. These programs combine paid employment, nationally recognised training and school studies, allowing students to gain valuable industry experience and qualifications.
Career Development Opportunities
Throughout the year, students can access a range of career explorations programs, industry experiences, university engagement activities and community events. These opportunities help students connect with employers, training providers and tertiary institutions while exploring further study and career options.
The FEET First program plays a vital role in helping students build the skills, experience and confidence needed to successfully transition from school to further education, training and employment.
